On getting too big for one's own boots.

I have been doing well recently, with two new books out almost simultaneously you can imagine how pleased I was with myself. I was pleased as punch with my achievement, over the moon, chuffed, made up, thrilled and lots of other things that you can already imagine. Not because the books had suddenly hit the bestsellers list at number one and two respectively, in fact it is too soon to tell if they will sell at all. Rather it was simply the completion of two books that I had been working on for some time and two that I was very happy with.

Most of you will not know me and so will not be aware that unlike many other writers who believe that everything that they have written (including shopping lists) are the best things ever written. Ever. I am rarely that happy with my books. There is always something that I dislike about them or that annoys me. With "A River of Tears" it was the very last story, I thought it let the compendium down, even though most liked it. With "The MIscast Fate" it was the ending and how I had set up the chapters (though it had seemed like a good idea at the time) and dont even get me started on "Cornelius" I even have a "Do not buy" recommendation for it on my website.

Therefore to have two books out at the same time that I was happy with is not only a rare occurence for me but an unknown occurance. Firstly I have only ever had two books out at the same time, twice (including this time) it is very much considered a no-no in the publishing industry but hey, it's me, why do things the right way when you can do them Raymond's way. Who knows better, the big publishing companies or Raymond Walker? Certainly not me.

So there I was over the moon, pleased as...well you know the rest, to then find out one of the novels is to be released excusively on Amazon. Apparenly this is not unusual these days though I had not heard of such a thing until a few weeks ago. The book will still be available in all the normal ways except that it will be on Amazon only. You will not be able to buy it in the shops for four months nor on Kobo or in the I-store but from kindle, digitaly and in paperback from Amazon only. I have nothing against Amazon at all in fact they have sold many books for me over the years and I look forward to the payments that I recieve from them but there is something great about seeing your own book upon the shelves in Waterstones etc.

All that said, I should not be to annoyed, I am after all, happy with the books this time.
