Revisiting your own old book.

Here is a little weird thing. I received an e-mail last night from a friend, a well known author who around six years ago now produced a bestseller. He has remarked often that despite the success of the book he wishes he had told the tale differently. In the midst of our conversation, and to my surprise, he told me he had started rewriting the book. To what end, I asked? You cannot release the same book again with a few change's. "You know it always annoyed me" he replied, "it never sat right, so for my own peace of mind I started rewriting it. I changed a few short sections but very little and then realized that it did not need rewritten, it did not need changed, it needed....more". He is now finishing a sequel to that earlier book. So perhaps the need to change and update is not only that. Perhaps it means that you could have given more of yourself?
