Realism not optimism.

A gentleman placed an article talking of how lovely life is and how wonderful it all can be.A nice fellow thoughtful and uplifting. I do not mean to be a downer here but the truth is a little different. I replied.

I can see your intrinsic thoughts and they have value but as FMA De Voltaire once said. "All is for the best in the best of all possible worlds" Alas this is not "the best of all possible worlds" but rather the one we live in, like it or not. It is not the "Best" nor even approaching such a lofty purview. Rather it is a blood splattered midden where we walk upon the bones of the unlamented dead, ignoring the vulnerable and dying, the weak and downtrodden as long we are alright. My Father once told me when I took a personal point of view; "you know what we said in the war, son when someone was looking out for themselves? "We called them a ("Fuck you Jack I'm alright") a person that cared only for themselves, they wanted to get home alive, nothing wrong with that but if you cannot save someone. If you cannot help someone, then why are you here in the first place? Wise man, my father.
